We have a long history of visiting Nepal and still visit twice a year. We started Sano Bazaar using our experience of working with Nepalese craftsmen.
Our suppliers are either fair traded organisations or small family businesses who over the years have become friends. Nepal (unlike some Asian countries) has a strict policy against children working in factories and our rug supplier provides accommodation and education for his employees.
We work closely with all of our suppliers to ensure that our designs are unique and the quality of all our products is of the highest standard.
We are committed to providing financial support for the development of a small village not far from Kathmandu, in conjunction with the Lions Club of Nepal.
What We Sell
Rugs
Our rugs are produced and designed by a small family business in Nepal started in 1970. The designs are all modern and unique to our supplier, many based on traditional Tibetan religious symbols. The rugs are hand knotted, made with 80 or 100 knots to the square inch using wool either from New Zealand or Tibet. The dyes are either vegetable based or made in Switzerland.
We display our rugs around the country at interior design shows and always have a large range of colours and sizes in stock. We can also supply rugs made to your own size and design.
Jewellery
Our designs are unique to us and mostly made by a small family business in Nepal. We specialise in designs using a wide range of semi precious stones complemented by top quality silver to make up an ever changing selection of fashionable, classic and distinctive jewellery.
Accessories
We are always searching for new high quality items. Last time we found the perfect bag-the softest leather with a comfy shoulder strap and roomy too! We love scarves and shawls and always have a large selection in stock from the highest quality double sided cashmere to the pretty stripy cotton. Our stock is forever changing!
